Diabetes is a long-term disease that affects a large population globally, but not all diabetes share the same kind. It is important to make a difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes for the case of awareness as well as management.
Type 1 Diabetes is an auto immune disease. Cells of the body immune the pancreas’s insulin manufacturing beta cells and demolish them. In short, the body makes little or no insulin, a hormone that helps control blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetes requires patients to administer insulin each day either by injection, or through the use of an insulin pump. It usually occurs in children or young adults, but the tumor can occur at any age. Some of the signs that one should look for as signs of the disease include excessive drinking of water, often passing of urine and even sudden loss of weight coupled with tiredness. Sadly there can be no known method from which one can prevent getting Type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes, however, is more prevalent and it occurs as follow factors such as diet, weight and exercise regimes play a major role. Type 2 diabetes is a disorder characterized by insulin resistance or insufficient amounts of insulin. Symptoms generally appear in adults above 45 years, though incidences in youngsters are on the rise. Treatment of Type 2 diabetes may require changes in diet and exercise, oral medications, and occasionally insulin. They may be nonspecific and sometimes develop gradually; the symptoms include frequent urination, poor eyesight, and wounds that heal very slowly.
Knowing these differences assists others in taking necessary precautions, and also provides proper treatment for symptoms to occur. At CURELO, we believe in the publicization of the conditions and early detection as some measures towards preventing complications of diabetes.
